A Beacon of Hope
House of Grace is a nonprofit in Southaven, Mississippi, serving domestic violence survivors. We provide free shelter, basic needs, counseling, and support to around 120 individuals annually.
We help survivors regain vital documents, access resources, and transition into safe, stable housing. Committed to equality, we offer services without discrimination of any kind. Completely free of charge to those in need.

House of Grace serves 11 counties, including DeSoto, Marshall, Tate, Tunica, Panola, Lafayette, Coahoma, Quitman, Yalobusha, Benton, and Tallahatchie.


SHELTER
In 2023, more than 80,000 people in the U.S. who used homeless services reported domestic violence as the main cause. One in four families experience homelessness do to domestic violence.Many more go uncounted, staying with friends, in cars, or hidden from the public system. This is hidden homelessness.

SUPPORT
Our services help survivors heal emotionally, access legal protection, and rebuild their lives through resources like housing and job support. Without help, many victims remain trapped in cycles of abuse or face homelessness and trauma. Support empowers them to regain control, restore their dignity, and create a safer future.

OUTREACH
Coming together to reshape societal attitudes, teaching younger generations that abuse is never acceptable and that respect and equality are essential. Where does your money go?
A domestic violence shelter provides a safe place for survivors to heal and rebuild their lives. With the support of donor contributions, shelters offer essential services like emergency housing, food, transportation, legal assistance, and mental health counseling. Every donation directly helps survivors escape abuse, find stability, and access the support they need to move forward with strength and dignity.

When you give $25
Covers the cost of replacing a birth certificate or any other necessary document. When escaping violence, life and safety are priorities. A U.S. fact sheet notes many victims leave “in the middle of the night with nothing but the clothes on their backs,” indicating they escape with minimal possessions, thus limiting the help they are able to receive.
When you give $50
You provide one educational program; covers the cost of a housing application fee. Homelessness is not just about lacking shelter—it's about living in constant survival mode, exposed to violence, exploitation, and systemic neglect. That’s why safe housing and trauma-informed support are essential, not optional.
When you give $75
Domestic violence counseling is essential for victims and their children because it helps them heal from trauma, rebuild self-worth, and break the cycle of abuse. It provides emotional support, teaches healthy coping and relationship skills, and offers safety planning. For children, it also helps restore stability and emotional security. Overall, counseling empowers families to recover and move forward in safety.

Clothing is essential for victims and their children escaping domestic violence because it provides dignity, meets basic needs, ensures safety, and helps them confidently attend important appointments. It also reduces stress, allowing them to focus on healing and rebuilding their lives.
